NODA:

Det fremtidig senteret som vi planlegger har nå fått navn: NODA - Nordlig Design- og arkitektur senter …som kan uttales no`da? Et utrykk vi bruker mye her i nord, og som setter fokus på selve kjernen av all problemløsning, hva gjør vi nå da? - NO`DA.

Nordlig Design og Arkitektursenter

NO-DA er foreløpig et samarbeidsprosjekt mellom aktører innenfor design- og arkitekturmiljøet i Nord-Norge Foreløpig plassert i Tromsø. Foreløpig på eksperimentstadiet, men allerede med vellykkede prosjekter bak seg.

Vi vil bli en (analog og digital) møteplass og en utstillingsarena, med fagbibliotek og butikk, som presenterer nordlig, regional og lokal design.

Vår visjon er at bærekraftig design og arkitektur skal bli viktige byggeklosser i utviklingen av nordområdene.

Vi vet det trengs en lokalt forankret kunnskap for å lage funksjonelle og fornuftige løsninger i et nordlig klima.

Vi vil at NO-DA skal heve kunnskapsnivået om design og arkitektur gjennom å tilby workshops, undervisningsopplegg  og jevnlige PÅFYLLSmøter der interesserte mennesker møtes og tanker brynes.  Et sted for inspirasjon, kunnskapsutveksling og idéskaping.

Nordområdene er i fokus for internasjonal interesse, store potensial i marine ressurser, olje, gass og nye transportveger. Samtidig er de et historisk reisemål som trekker stadig flere besøkende på grunn av storslått natur og landskap, med midnattssol og mørketid.

Det trengs ikke bare arbeidskraft med kunnskap og talent, men utviklede og sterke fagmiljø innenfor design- og arkitekturfeltet. Høy kvalitet på de bygde omgivelsene vil styrke opplevelsen av det ekte og naturlige, det eksotiske og det storslagne.

Innovation Norway have awarded a grant to our project!

This grant is going to be used for an "expertise research”. We are going to travel to different places in Norway that work in our field so we can learn how they manage their finances. This will give us ideas on how to create our financial model. We will be visiting Design Region Bergen, Beyond Risør and DogA. We hope we can apply what we will learn as soon as possible.

Arkitektur workshop at a secundary school

Last week twelve children at Sommerlyst school had the opportunity of learning a bit about architecture from a very well known architect: Sami Rintala. Together with Rintala the children built a model of  their dream house. This is the last activity of my project and I am very happy with the result. Both children and teachers learned about the importance that architecture has in society and how we should use this expertise more often.

We would like to thank our sponsors this time: Intro-fond, the main sponsor, Neumann bygg for donating all the material we needed and Troms produkt, for donating delicious baguettes for the children.

Special thanks to the school principal for allowing us to have this workshop and to the teachers involved. They did a great job recruiting children for the day and helping all day long.

Bransjetreff#1= foredrag + mingling

Årets bransjetreff gikk av stabelen førrige uke. Tema var hvordan kan design og arkitektur være med på å forme fremtidens Nord-Norge. Foredragsholder var nordnorsk industridesigner Kyrre Kalseth.
Vi ønsker å takke arrangements sponsoren: Tank Design Tromsø for støtte. En stor takk rettes også til TEAM 2 for låne av flotte lokaler og til alle de som hjalp til før og under arrangementet. 
Vi gleder oss til neste arrangement i august.

Researching abroad

The Reis og Ryk project:

 

This year I have taken part in the Reis og Ryk project. The main idea of this project is to exchange ideas and knowledge across borders in Europe, and to increase the networks of the organizations involved.

This program gives us the opportunity to meet other companies / institutions in  Europe through a two week work placement. 
Thanks to the project I had the opportunity to go to Denmark for two weeks to make a study of how two companies in the field of design and architecture work. 
My first week was spent at the Dansk Arkitektur Center (DAC) this center is internationally known for its good work in the field of communicating on architecture. Not only for architects, but also for the general public. During my week there I participated in workshops, exhibitions, but mainly on interviews with the heads of the various programs DAC offers. 
One interesting thing that happened was my gift to my host (my book Små Spor). He liked it so much that now I have a contract to sell it in their bookshop. This is the largest bookshop in the subject of Scandinavian architecture ... 


The second week of the project I spent  it at the Design Museum Danmark. The museum not only gives emphasis to communicating on the history of design but also focus on research and communication of present day design. Here I also participated in important business meetings and workshops. The director of the company also took me to meetings with other directors of cultural organizations to learn and expand my network.

Apart from this I also had the opportunity to get to know other interesting people within the field of design and architecture in Copenhagen.

I am very satisfied with my stay in Denmark. I feel I have learned a lot about how to run a center as the one I am planning to run in Tromsø. And I need people! are you one of them? give me a call!

Office nomad= kontornomade

To be an office nomad

The idea behind this concept is to get to know other people from the area I am interested in. By staying one month at their workplaces not only do I get to know how they work, but at the same time they get to know me and my project. This is a fantastic way to expand my network, get ideas and collaborators for new projects.
